Lukashenko dead set against Belarus’ involvement in any combat operations

Belarus has no intention of getting involved in any combat operations. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement during a solemn assembly held in the Palace of the Republic on 2 July in anticipation of Independence Day, BelTA has learned.

 
“I’d like to warn you not to worry. Remember what I’ve always told you: everyone should just do their jobs. I guarantee that we will not allow any clashes at the border with Ukraine. They won’t happen,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he commented on tensions at the border.
 
The president stressed that neither Belarus nor Ukraine wants combat operations since the battlefield situation is getting worse and worse for Ukraine. “Do they need another frontline as long as 1,500km? No, it will not be easy for us and Russians to cover this border then. But it will be even more difficult for Ukrainians to hold on to this border,” the head of state noted. “This is why, as I analyze this situation every day, I concluded that they are trying to distract us from the key nasty stuff you know where. This is why some movement has started over there.”
 
He added that NATO does not want to end the war in Ukraine and wants Belarus to get involved in combat operations. However, the president assured that he will not allow that to happen.
 
“It won’t happen. We are not going to get involved in any combat operations because we know what the outcome will be. But NATO needs a pretext: the frontline situation is catastrophic for Ukrainians. It is very serious. And the West responds to proposals on peace talks with escalation all the time. A huge amount of money has been invested in Ukraine. I am absolutely convinced that Americans and the West do not intend to withdraw from Ukraine. It is an excellent staging point, good lands. They have already been pawned and sold. Who will leave Ukraine? But Ukraine has no fighters left. This is why a serious escalation is needed in order to deploy NATO units over there. Mercenaries cannot handle Russians. This is the danger of the situation. And we know where they will come from,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stated.
 
The president cited his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, who had asked Aleksandr Lukashenko to cover him from behind. “This is where they will come from. So that this mouse hunting on the part of Ukrainians at our border would not serve as a cover of the main thrust that we may get if we talk in military parlance. But we have taken all the precautions,” he said. “We set up defenses at the southern border and the western one in order to prevent any mishaps like those, which have already happened in our history. If we and our Russian allies respond together to such things, trust me, we will be able to preserve peace and calm in our Belarusian land. I am not trying to inflate tensions. The tensions are already as high as they can be.”

21st June was fifth International Yoga Day observed across the world. The theme for Yoga Day 2019 was "Yoga for Climate Action”. On this day, which is dedicated to inner and outer well-being of human body, people across the world practice yoga in groups. The International Day of Yoga aims to raise awareness worldwide of the many benefits of practicing yoga, a physical, mental and spiritual practice.
