Dazhynki festival travels to Klimovichi

Celebration of farmers, concerts, an artisans' fair, shopping arcades and food courts – the town of Klimovichi warmly welcomes the regional stage of the harvest festival Dazhynki on 16 November, BelTA has learned.

The district center prepared for the important event in advance: literally within a few months the town was transformed beyond recognition - streets and house facades were refurbished, important cultural and social facilities were renovated. “It is a great honor and a great responsibility to host the Dazhynki harvest festival,” emphasized Head of the Ideology and Youth Affairs Department of of the Klimovichi District Executive Committee Andrei Zenkovich. “In anticipation of the festival, a colossal amount of work has been done in the entire region, because unity is our strength. I am sure that Dazhynki will give a new impetus to the development of the town and the district,” he went on saying.

Andrei Zenkovich noted that in anticipation of the festival, the infrastructure of the district center had been significantly improved. Among the most notable transformations that the guests of the festival will be able to see today are the renovation of the district Community Center and the local history museum, major repairs of the central Kommunisticheskaya Street, improvements in the People's Unity Park, a facelift of shopping facilities, the stadium, the agricultural college, major repairs of houses and paving of roads, installation of children's playgrounds, creation of a recreation area on the Kalinitsa River, opening of Festivalnaya Square, where the international children's art festival Golden Bee will be held in the future.

The Dazhynki festival program in Klimovichi promises to be rich, spectacular, and exciting. Traditionally, the festival will celebrate farmers and winners of the regional competition in harvesting grain and legumes. They will be given commendation letters, awards and gifts; many nice words will be said about them from the stage, and performances will be dedicated to them. The main theme of the performances will be the glorification of working people who grew crops of the new harvest and made a significant contribution to the food security of the country.

Visitors to the festival will certainly appreciate thematic areas and shopping arcades. Taking part in the festival will be the region's largest producers, consumer cooperative enterprises, private companies and individual entrepreneurs. The total length of the shopping arcades will be almost 600m, and the number of seats will exceed 500. Trade and food facilities will line up several streets of the district center. Meat products, various types of sausages and semi-finished products, bakery and culinary products, as well as ready-made dishes will be on sale here. There will be grill zones with barbecues, cauldrons and skewers.

Artisans will offer souvenirs, tea, spices, jewelry, items from wood and much more. “The Dazhynki festival is the main agricultural festival in the region. A good mood and festive atmosphere here are created not only by cultural workers, but also by sales people: a wide range of products is offered to the visitors - everything that the Mogilev land is rich in,” noted Deputy Head of the Trade and Services Directorate of the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee Veronika Titova.

Visitors to the festival will also see an exhibition of agricultural machinery, an exposition showcasing agricultural products of local enterprises, a presentation of the agro-industrial potential and achievements of the region, as well as a presentation of tourism, cultural and industrial brands of Mogilev Oblast. High-school students might be interested in a career guidance site that will also run master classes.

Children and young people will be able to take part in quests, visit a tent city, sports grounds and playgrounds, exhibitions, photo zones, master classes in arts and crafts, zones of sports schools, as well as a site dedicated to student construction brigades arranged by the regional branch of the BRSM Youth Union.

The festival of agricultural workers will wrap up with fireworks.

I recently learned my surname is not Polish, but Belarusian. I heard you on shortwave in the past and am so happy to listen online in English. We hear nothing about Belarus here in the US so I am so glad to learn about your country. Keep on broadcasting in English. I also joined the Hoererklub on Facebook as I can understand German. If you have information or a station pennant, I will very much appreciate it.
