Lukashenko speaks about timeservers in power, envy in politics in interview with RT

In an interview with the RT TV channel Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko spoke about timeservers in power in the West and their envy, BelTA has learned.
 
During the conversation the journalist Rick Sanchez noted the high level of support from the general public that the Belarusian president enjoys. In his words, surveys conducted by Belarusian sociologists indicate that Aleksandr Lukashenko enjoys support from 78% of the country’s population. A similar figure – about 70% – is also provided by Western sociological studies. “Some Western leaders like Trump, Macron, Starmer – all of them combined probably do not have such support from their own populations and can only dream of having that much support,” the interviewer said. “Is it possible that they call you a dictator and treat you that way precisely because they envy those numbers?”
 
“There is definitely some envy among politicians towards each other. That is true,” the head of state said. “You are absolutely right, I often think about that myself. May God grant not 78%, not 80%, but at least 60% [of popular support] to some Western politician.”
 
Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized that the misfortune and the problem of many Western leaders is that when they come to power, they behave in a way that allows them to extract maximum personal gain in a short period of time instead of acting in the interests of the people. It is true, for example, with regard to French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. “They are timeservers. They came, grabbed, and left. That is the basis of their policy. They do not think about the people of France, Germany, and so on. And this is their problem. They mentored us in the past: Russia, us, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, and other countries. But now they should come to us to learn and draw appropriate conclusions. They do not want to learn and draw conclusions,” the president said.
 
The same can be said about U.S. President Donald Trump, who also has a rather short term in office to carry out truly significant transformations in a country like the USA. “He is a timeserver, he has four years. What can he do in four years? Nothing. He will do nothing. Therefore, a president has to have time,” the Belarusian leader noted.

21st June was fifth International Yoga Day observed across the world. The theme for Yoga Day 2019 was "Yoga for Climate Action”. On this day, which is dedicated to inner and outer well-being of human body, people across the world practice yoga in groups. The International Day of Yoga aims to raise awareness worldwide of the many benefits of practicing yoga, a physical, mental and spiritual practice.
