Safety and reliability are the absolute priorities in the nuclear power plant that will be built in Belarus. The statement was made by First Deputy Emergencies Minister of Belarus Vasily Stepanenko in his speech during the 57th session of the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
The session takes place in Vienna. The Belarusian delegation is led by Vasily Stepanenko, who made the speech as part of the general discussion. The Belarusian official also stated that Belarus adheres to IAEA norms and standards as well as other international commitments in the nuclear power industry.
The Belarusian delegation head also remarked that this year marks 20 years since Belarus acceded to the Nuclear Weapons Non-Proliferation Treaty as a nation without nuclear weapons. It was stressed that the compliance with the Treaty and support for international efforts for the sake of nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation are some of the corner stones of Belarus’ foreign policy and security policy.
