В штаб-квартире ООН в Нью-Йорке постоянный представитель Беларуси при Организации Объединенных Наций Андрей Дапкюнас принял участие в первой регулярной сессии исполнительного совета Программы развития ООН, Фонда ООН в области народонаселения и Управления ООН по обслуживанию проектов (ПРООН/ЮНФПА/ЮНОПС). Белорусский дипломат сделал ряд замечаний касательно подготовки стратегического плана ПРООН на 2018-2021 годы, сообщили в пресс-службе МИД Беларуси.
Подчеркнуто, что Беларусь, как страна со средним уровнем дохода, намерена при подготовке плана решительно отстаивать интересы этой категории стран. Как отметил постпред Беларуси, страны со средним уровнем дохода должны рассматриваться не как конкуренты других категорий получателей помощи в целях развития, а как критически важный и необходимый субъект глобального устойчивого развития. В качестве одного из приоритетных направлений деятельности ПРООН белорусский дипломат предложил закрепить в стратегическом плане помощь странам в преодолении бедствий не только природного, но и техногенного характера, как, например, чернобыльская катастрофа.
В конце 2017 года исполнительный совет ПРООН/ЮНФПА/ЮНОПС, членом которого является Беларусь, примет стратегический план ПРООН на 2018-2021 годы. План представляет собой конкретные направления работы ПРООН на следующие четыре года по реагированию на наиболее острые проблемы развития в мире.
Андрей Дапкюнас также выразил слова благодарности Администратору ПРООН Хелен Кларк, покидающей свой пост в апреле 2017 года, за самоотверженный труд как на посту главы ПРООН, так и в качестве координатора международного взаимодействия ООН по Чернобылю.
Постоянный представитель Беларуси отметил, что Хелен Кларк за годы своей плодотворной работы на посту стала хорошим другом многих стран, в том числе и Беларуси.
Как сообщалось, в апреле 2016 года Хелен Кларк была награждена Президентом Беларуси орденом Франциска Скорины за значительный личный вклад в развитие сотрудничества между Республикой Беларусь и ООН по проведению комплексной реабилитации и обеспечению устойчивого развития районов, которые пострадали в результате катастрофы на Чернобыльской АЭС.
