Gomel welcomes the nationwide social and cultural campaign Marathon of Unity, BelTA has learned.
The marathon has brought a number of unique exhibitions to Gomel. Thus, Sukhoi Gomel State Technical University will host the exposition “With the Quality Mark” featuring rare posters from the holdings of the National Library of Belarus. Another project of the National Library will be presented at Francisk Skorina Gomel State University – this is the exhibition “Books as a gift to the president”. According to Director General of the National Library, member of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly Vadim Gigin, this is a unique collection of books gifted to Aleksandr Lukashenko by heads of other states and governments, public and cultural figures. The exhibition of the Belarusian State Museum of the Great Patriotic War History “Liberation of Belarus. September 1943-1944” will be hosted by Gomel State Medical University. These exhibitions will be running on 18-19 October.
BelTA will present two exhibitions at the Marathon of Unity. They will open on 19 October and will take visitors on a journey through the history of sovereign Belarus. Unique photographs featured at the exhibition titled “Belarus. Takeof” will be running in the Kristall Mall from 10:00 to 16:00. BelTA’s photo exhibition “Sovereign Belarus” will highlight the achievements of independent Belarus in the political, social and economic spheres. It will be running in the Ice Palace of HC Gomel from 14:00 to 19:00.
On the first day of the Marathon of Unity Belarusian bloggers and performers will go on excursions to Komintern, Gomselmash, the Institute of Forestry of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Gomel Palace and Park Ensemble. Eight bloggers with a total audience of almost 14 million people are expected to take part.
On the same day, “Not-boring not-lectures” meetings will be held at the Gomel State College of Design and Computer Graphics and Gomel State Polytechnic College, the branch of Belarusian State Technological University.
The second day of the Marathon of Unity will begin with the opening of a mural with the inscription “The future of Belarus is in your hands” created on the facade of the house on 5A Lange Street. The center-stage of events on this day will be the area near the Ice Palace.

I recently learned my surname is not Polish, but Belarusian. I heard you on shortwave in the past and am so happy to listen online in English. We hear nothing about Belarus here in the US so I am so glad to learn about your country. Keep on broadcasting in English. I also joined the Hoererklub on Facebook as I can understand German. If you have information or a station pennant, I will very much appreciate it.
