On February 24 Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly, head of the delegation of the National Assembly Boleslav Pirshtuk met with the President of the OSCE PA Christine Muttonen and the Secretary General of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Roberto Montella.
The parties discussed the issues related to preparation and holding in July 2017 in Minsk of the 26th annual session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the upcoming visit of the President of the OSCE PA K.Muttonen and the signing of the Agreement between the Parliament of the Republic of Belarus and the OSCE PA to hold the 26th Annual session of the Assembly.
The meetings with the leadership of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly were attended by Chairman of the Standing Commission of the House of Representatives on International Affairs V.Voronetsky and Head of the Secretariat of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly G.Yurkievich.
In the afternoon, a joint meeting of the three General Committees of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly was held, which featured a special debate on the topic of "Protection of human rights in times of crisis." Speaking at the special discussion, Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives stressed that the provision of possibilities for the full and free development of personality, the protection of human rights is an essential function of the government. Boleslav Pirshtuk drew the attention of foreign parliamentarians to the National Plan of the Republic of Belarus on human rights for 2016 - 2019, adopted by the Government at the end of October last year, noting that Belarus became the 39th country in the world that adopted such a program policy document on human rights.
Chairman of the Standing Commission of the Council of the Republic for Foreign Affairs and National Security S.Rakhmanov took part in a special discussion of the "Transnational security in the OSCE area: the fight against terrorism" in the framework of the session of the General Assembly's Committee on Political Affairs and Security. In his speech he noted the need to intensify the efforts of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in the fight against terrorism and the appropriateness of the document, which would clearly spell out the role, objectives and tasks of the Assembly in this area. S.Rahmanov emphasized the importance of inter-parliamentary cooperation in combining the the efforts of governmemts and expert community, the intellectualization of society in order to improve the efficiency of countering terrorist threats.

During the winter session the head and members of the Belarusian delegation held meetings with the heads and members of delegations of Austria, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Great Britain, Germany, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Italy, Moldova, Mongolia, Norway, Russia, Romania, Serbia, USA, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Switzerland, Sweden and other OSCE states, in the course of which current issues of inter-parliamentary cooperation were discussed.
