Napoleon Bonaparte’s descendant to visit Belarus


       Charles Napoleon, a direct descendant of Napoleon Bonaparte, visits Belarus, the Belarusian Embassy in France reports. Charles Napoleon is Chairman of the European Federation of Napoleonic Cities. His visit is aimed at promoting cooperation between Belarus and the federation. The European Federation of Napoleonic Cities was set up in 2004. Members of the federation are more than 60 cities of Belgium, Germany, Italy, Poland, Russia, Czechia and other European countries. All of them were influenced by the famous French commander. The major objectives of the federation are to facilitate tourist contacts, carry out joint cultural projects, provide support to historians studying the history of Napoleonic wars, and promote cooperation between learning institutions and young people.
       A memorandum on the inclusion of Borisov into the European Federation of Napoleonic Cities is to be signed at the Borisov District Executive Committee.
