Rare editions of the Bible are on display at the Sacred Book exhibition which opened at the Belarusian State University, the BSU press service reports. The exhibition presents the books about Belarusian Saints and basic Christian sacraments, various Orthodox books in the Belarusian language and also the books about family life and Orthodox upbringing. Visitors of the exhibition can also get acquainted with the icons of the Mother of God which are most commonly represented in churches in Belarus. The program of the exhibition features a meeting with Ivan Cherota, a member of the Belarusian biblical commission, head of the Slavic literature department of the philological faculty of the Belarusian State University. The commission was set up in 1989 to translate the entire Bible into Belarusian. The exhibition is designed to promote spiritual and moral education of youth, popularize Orthodox and moral values, to cultivate respect for the cultural heritage and traditions.
