The monument to People’s Artist of the USSR Vladimir Mulyavin to be mounted in Yekaterinburg will be cast from bronze.
The Culture Ministry held a contest to choose the best conceptual design for the monument to the founder and artistic director of the Pesnyary music group. The contest was announced in 2013; however, the deadline had to be extended several times.
Finally, the jury had to choose among 16 conceptual designs. The experts singled out the project of the Belarusian sculptor, holder of the gold medal of the USSR Academy of Arts, Sergey Logvin. The jury consisted of First Deputy Culture Minister Vladimir Karachevsky, Rector of the Belarusian State Academy of Arts Mikhail Borozna, People’s Artist of Belarus Ivan Misko, Rector of the Ural State Academy of Architecture and Arts Sergei Postnikov, Artistic Director of the Pesnyary music group Vyacheslav Sharapov and others.
“The author will finalize the project, will go to Yekaterinburg, choose the venue, and discuss the project with the architect. Each stage of the project will be supervised by the national expert council,” the Culture Ministry said.
The monument is to be ready by the end of August – the beginning of September.
The monument will be installed in the center of Yekaterinburg at the alley leading to the ticket office of the Cosmos cinema and concert hall. The Pesnyary group led by Vladimir Mulyavin performed on stage of this concert hall for more than 20 years. The idea to build the monument was upheld by the President of the Republic of Belarus, the Sverdlovsk Oblast Governor and Yekaterinburg municipal administration.
