The Belarus government has discussed a set of measures meant to step up Belarusian-Cambodian trade and economic cooperation. The work was done as part of the head of state’s instruction to reach for new export destinations.
The press service said that Cambodia is viewed as a promising partner of Belarus, a region to access the market of Southeastern Asia.
At present the government is preparing proposals to advance cooperation with this country, the legal base for Belarusian-Cambodian cooperation is being created, said the press service. Over ten agreements are in development. They constitute the legal foundation of the partnership in economy, investments, production sector, energy, agriculture, sport and tourism, healthcare, military and technical cooperation in addition to other areas. A factory to assemble Belarusian tractors is already being built near the city of Phnom Penh. Apart from that, contracts have been signed to supply tractors and tire products. Other ways to step up Belarusian export are under consideration.
At present Cambodia is one of the most rapidly developing economies in Southeastern Asia. The Belarus government, the Foreign Ministry, and the Industry Ministry are putting systemic efforts into enabling smooth collaboration with the country.
