Belarus, Pakistan aim to boost trade, economic ties

Belarus and Pakistan aim to expand trade and economic cooperation. The matter was discussed during a meeting between Belarusian Minister of Energy Denis Moroz and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad, the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Energy told BelTA.

The parties discussed the prospects of Belarus-Pakistan relations and the further implementation of agreements reached at the highest level. They reaffirmed mutual interest in expanding trade and economic ties, boosting cooperation between government bodies and business communities, and promoting joint projects. “We highly value the existing nature of our relations with Pakistan. For Belarus, it is an important partner in South Asia, with whom we share mutual respect, trust, and a pragmatic interest in developing cooperation. This provides a solid foundation for long-term joint work,” the energy minister emphasized.

The visit coincided with the ninth meeting of the Belarus-Pakistan joint commission on trade and economic cooperation. The parties outlined avenues for collaborative work in trade, industry, agriculture, transport and logistics, finance, education, healthcare, and information technology.

Following the meeting, Denis Moroz and Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan signed the protocol of the ninth session of the joint commission.
