Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Egypt Sergei Rachkov met with Minister of Trade and Industry of Egypt Mounir Fakhry Abdel-Nour. The parties discussed the trade and economic relations between Belarus and Egypt, including the next meeting of the joint Belarusian-Egyptian trade commission. "The parties considered the possibility of increasing the capacity of the joint plants to assemble Belarusian trucks and tractors at Egyptian enterprises, deliveries of buses, quarry, mining, road-building and agricultural machinery, petrochemical products, fertilizers," the Foreign Ministry said. "The parties discussed the participation of Belarusian enterprises in government programs of Egypt to develop infrastructure, explore and develop the fields of oil, gas and other mineral resources," added the press service of the Foreign Ministry. In 2012, the trade between the two countries amounted to $97.1 million, Belarusian export - $77.7 million. Belarus’ major export items to Egypt are tractors, trucks, potash fertilizers, tires, metal products. Egypt has created the facilities to assemble MAZ trucks and MTZ tractors.
