The Belarusian oil industry group Belorusneft plans to expand its presence in Ecuador. Cooperation prospects were discussed in Gomel at the talks between the Belorusneft executives and representatives of the Ecuadorian companies. The issue that highlighted the meeting was partnership in using progressive oil recovery methods at the deposits of Ecuador and Belarus. Participation in enhanced oil recovery projects at Ecuadorian fields can become one of new areas of activity of the Belarusian company in this country. Two Belorusneft seismic teams are currently working in the Amazon selva. Their main task under a two-year contract with the Ecuadorian state oil company Petroamazonas EP is to conduct 3D seismic field activity searching for hydrocarbon deposits at the total area of 1,500 square meters. A branch of Belorusneft was registered in Ecuador at the end of 2012. Belorusneft has already completed the accreditation procedure to provide services for Petroamazonas EP and is ready to conduct seismic survey on its own as a contractor of the Ecuadorian company.
