The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) intends to take an active part in the modernization of the mechanical engineering industries of the Customs Union and Single Economic Space member states. The statement was made by EEC Minister for Industry and Agribusiness Sergei Sidorsky at the expanded session of the Bureau of the Russian Engineering Union and the Defense Industries Assistance League in Moscow. Sergei Sidorsky believes it is necessary to push for the development of machine-tool engineering and the base for the industry’s retooling. Taking into account the global tendency to modularize the production of machine tools, Sergei Sidorsky suggested setting up a working group to take care of that under the Advisory Committee for Industry, which the Eurasian Economic Commission has already set up. The Minister said he hoped that a memorandum on cooperation between the Belarusian association of production sector enterprises BelAPP, the National Chamber of Businessmen of Kazakhstan, and the Russian Engineering Union would contribute to the advancement of positive processes in mechanical engineering, namely more advanced cooperation,
