Lukashenko wishes accord, peace to Palestinian people

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has sent greetings to President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas on the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

“Belarus, as a founding country of the United Nations Organization, stands for the strict implementation of the UN Charter,” the message of greetings reads. “In the current unpredictable period of turbulence in global politics, economy and security, one of the main provisions of this document - the principle of equal rights and self-determination of peoples, which aims to develop friendly relations between nations on the basis of mutual respect - is more relevant than ever before.

The president stressed that over the past 75 years the Palestinians' call to the international community to support them on their path to statehood and national sovereignty in accordance with generally accepted international legal norms and decisions of the UN General Assembly has been strong.

“Today it is clear to the majority of mankind that the search for a historical compromise for the establishment of the State of Palestine, the establishment of just and lasting peace in the Middle East is an important basis not only for the wellbeing of the region, but also for the stability in the whole world,” the Belarusian leader said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko wished Mahmoud Abbas and the Palestinian people to reach accord and establish a peaceful life on their land as soon as possible.
