Andreichenko: Belarus aims to expand trade with Kazakhstan

Belarus aims to expand trade with Kazakhstan on mutually beneficial terms, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko said as he met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Belarus Yerlan Baizhanov, BelTA has learned.

“We seek further expansion and diversification of mutual trade on equal and mutually beneficial terms. The intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation focuses on this work. Its next meeting is due to take place in Minsk in December 2023. I believe that our MPs should take an active part in the meeting,” Vladimir Andreichenko said.

In addition to economic cooperation, relations in humanitarian field is of undoubted interest. “Education is the most important area here. Students from almost 100 countries choose educational institutions of Belarus. About 200 students from Kazakhstan are receiving education in Belarus. We are ready to welcome more students,” he said.

There is potential to develop cooperation in various areas of tourism, medicine, health resort treatment, and sports. “Here, we invite to involve the potential of our diasporas more actively. The working group on the affairs of Belarusians abroad, headed by the deputy chairman of the standing committee on human rights, national relations and mass media, which is operating in the Belarusian Parliament, is ready to provide every possible assistance. We will welcome your participation in its work,” the chairman of the House of Representatives added.

Vladimir Andreichenko also stressed that it was necessary to strengthen cooperation in the information sector. “The first practical step could be a round table on the legislative regulation of media activities, the fight against destructive information based on fake news. There are plans to involve friendship groups, profile commissions of parliaments and all the stakeholders in this work. It can be organized in the near future in the form of a video conference. I am confident that your vast experience and direct participation in this event will make it even more productive,” the speaker emphasized.
