CIS Secretary General Sergei Lebedev announced the agenda of the upcoming meeting of the CIS Heads of Government Council in Bishkek as he spoke to the media on 29 August, BelTA has learned.
The regular meeting of the CIS plenipotentiaries is taking place at the CIS headquarters in Minsk on 29 August. The plenipotentiaries are expected to discuss the progress in the implementation of the action plan to hold the Year of the Russian Language as a Language of Interethnic Communication in the CIS in 2023. In addition, the CIS Plenipotentiaries Council will compile the agenda of the meeting of the CIS Heads of Government Council.
“The CIS heads of government are set to meet in Bishkek on 27 October. We have already developed the main core of the agenda. It will traditionally include issues of economic nature, humanitarian plan, issues of financing the activities of the CIS bodies. Financial issues will occupy a large part of the agenda - there will 11 issues related to the unified budget of the CIS countries for the next year, financing of the Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation, financing of the air defense system of the CIS countries for 2024,” Sergei Lebedev said.
The heads of government will be invited to consider several programs of joint activities. “In particular, the program of activities related to the Year of Volunteer Movement in 2024. The plan is almost ready, and we hope it will be approved. The heads of government will be offered to approve the plan of activities related to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. This date will be celebrated in 2025. The heads of state have already decided to declare 2025 in the CIS the Year of the 80th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. All CIS countries, whose peoples took part in the fight against fascism, will host relevant important events in their countries to mark the event,” the secretary general added.
