Ivashka advances to Los Cabos Open quarterfinal

Belarus’ world number 113 Ilya Ivashka has made it into the quarterfinal of Los Cabos Open, an ATP 250 hard-court tennis tournament in Mexico, BelTA has learned.

In the second round the Belarusian saw off Croatia’s world number 115 Borna Gojo, 5-7, 6-2, 6-4, in two hours and 40 minutes. Ilya Ivashka will next play Croatia’s world number 15 Borna Coric. In the opener the Belarusian defeated Kazakhstan’s world number 258 Beibit Zhukayev, 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5).

In the Citi Open round of Last 16 in Washington Belarus’ Lidziya Marozava and Ingrid Martins of Brazil lost to Alexa Guarachi of Chile and Romania’s Monica Niculescu, 6-7, 5-7.
