Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko visited the military exercise area Obuz-Lesnovsky near Baranovichi and was informed about the combat shakedown of the Belarusian-Russian regional military force, BelTA has learned.
While in the military exercise area the head of state was also made familiar with the accommodations available to units of the Russian army and talked to soldiers and officers.
Aleksandr Lukashenko stated that the experience received during the shakedown of the army units was of great significance for Belarus. “It is important not only for me. This experience is important for Belarus,” he said.
The head of state went on saying: “I am going to listen very attentively and use it in the course of preparing our armed forces of Belarus and Russia for the protection of the common Fatherland. The most important thing, the most significant thing is that we and your commanding officers have agreed that you will talk about shortcomings because we will have to continue working in this mode, training both Belarusians and Russians.”
“We helped not only you. We helped ourselves, too. We are getting a lot of information, this experience from you. Our officers can use this experience as they help train those, who have not smelled the gunpowder, figuratively speaking, and those, who need to refresh their military skills,” the Belarusian leader added.
