EEC minister provides updates on common labor market in Eurasian Economic Union

Member of the Board, Minister in charge of Economy and Financial Policy of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Bakytzhan Sagintayev spoke about the efforts of the Eurasian Economic Commission to promote employee rights and social security at the forum “Eurasian Dialogue on the Labor Market” in Bishkek, BelTA learned from the EEC press service.

The EEC minister recalled that the most important documents in this field include the agreement on retirement benefits for workers of the EAEU countries, which entered into force in 2021. In line with the document, workers hailing from one of the EAEU member states have the same retirement rights in the other EAEU countries as workers of the host country.

“In addition to that, important amendments have been introduced to the Treaty on the EAEU. Thus, citizens of the EAEU member states will be able to change the purpose of entry without leaving the host state if they want to find a job. These amendments provide for direct recognition of education certificates of teachers and lawyers, allow concluding international agreements in the EAEU on direct recognition of academic degrees and titles. The entry into force of these amendments means that additional procedures in the state of employment will no longer be needed,” the EEC noted.

In order to address the needs of the labor market of the EAEU countries, the EEC prepares and posts on its website annual reports on the professions that are most in demand in the common labor market. Subsequently, recommended qualification requirements are developed for the professions included in it, which the EAEU countries use when developing their national qualification requirements. “The list of professions in demand and the recommended qualification requirements for them provide a guideline for educational organizations while developing their professional training programs,” the EEC minister emphasized. “This work seeks to consistently align the level of qualifications to increase labor productivity,” he noted.

“Today, the EAEU has a 93 million strong labor market where people can freely work in any of the countries of the union,” Bakytzhan Sagintayev added.
