Azarenka progresses into Citi Open round two

Belarus’ world number 20 Victoria Azarenka had a successful tournament debut in Washington, dispatching Ukraine’s world number 77 Dayana Yastremska, 6-4, 6-0, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian will next play world number 73 Tereza Martincova of the Czech Republic.

Belarus’ world number 49 Ilya Ivashka lost to world number 54 Sebastian Korda of the United States, 4-6, 6-7 (5-7) in an hour and 40 minutes. The American will next take on world number 31 Sebastian Baez of Argentine.

The tournament in Washington will be over on 7 August.
