Grain harvesting in full swing in Belarus

Belarusian agricultural workers have harvested cereals and leguminous crops (excluding maize, buckwheat and millet) on more than 155,500 hectares, or 7.26% of the area, the Agriculture and Food Ministry told BelTA.

As of 25 July, harvesting was completed on 18.2% of the targeted area in Brest Oblast (63,000 hectares), 8.76% in Gomel Oblast (30,400 hectares), 7.84% in Grodno Oblast (23,900 hectares), 7.09% in Minsk Oblast (31,800 hectares).

All in all, 639,200 tonnes of grain were threshed in Belarus, with the average yield at 41.1 centners per hectare. Winter barley was harvested from 55,800 hectares of land (93.7% of the designated area), with 288,600 tonnes threshed (the average yield stood at 51.7 centners per hectare). Malt barley was harvested from 5,950 hectares of land (10.9% of the plan), with 22,400 tonnes threshed and the average yield at 37.7 centners per hectare. Winter rapeseed was gathered in from 88,600 hectares of land or 28.8% of the targeted area, with 205,700 tonnes threshed and the average yield at 23.2 centners per hectare.

As part of the second cutting agricultural workers cut down grass on 621,300 hectares or 60.9% of the targeted area. Some 604,400 tonnes of hay (63.3% of the target), 10.860 million tonnes of haylage (80.9%), and 285,400 tonnes of silage (1.49%) were produced.
