CIS Ministerial Council meeting in Nur-Sultan to focus on humanitarian issues, security

Humanitarian cooperation and security will dominate the agenda of the CIS Ministerial Council meeting in Nur-Sultan, Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee - CIS Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev told reporters, BelTA has learned.

“The agenda of the CIS Heads of State Council meeting might include eight issues, and the CIS Ministerial Council meeting 17 issues. Yet, I want to say right away that this agenda is tentative. Work on the agenda continues,” Sergei Lebedev said.

The CIS Ministerial Council meeting will primarily discuss plans to strengthen cooperation in the field of security and defense, and efforts to combat terrorism. “In addition, St. Petersburg will be nominated for the CIS capital of culture for 2024. Youth cooperation will also be considered,” Sergei Lebedev said.

A regular meeting of the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives of the CIS member states to the statutory and other bodies of the Commonwealth is taking place at the CIS Executive Committee headquarters in Minsk on 28 June. The permanent representatives will be introduced to the system “Data Bank of the Unified Register of Legal Acts and Other Documents of the Commonwealth of Independent States”. The meeting participants will also consider proposals for the draft agendas of the regular meetings of the CIS Ministerial Council and the CIS Heads of State Council that are due to be held in Nur-Sultan on 13-14 October.
