Egypt seeks cooperation with Belarus on gender issues

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Egypt Sergei Terentyev met with President of Egypt's National Council for Women Maya Morsy, BelTA learned from the Belarusian diplomatic mission in Egypt.

The parties discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation to promote gender equality, rights and opportunities for women.

In this respect the parties reaffirmed their interest in intensifying cooperation between the National Council on Gender Policy under the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus, the Belarusian Women’s Union and the National Council for Women of Egypt.

Diplomatic relations between Belarus and Egypt were established on 1 February 1992. The Belarusian embassy in Egypt was opened in August 1997. Belarus develops humanitarian cooperation with Egypt in education, science, culture, sports and tourism.
