Sabalenka through to French Open third round

Belarus’ world number 7 Aryna Sabalenka needed an hour to cruise past world number 57 Madison Brengle of the United States, 6-1, 6-3, to reach the French Open round three, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian will next face Italy’s world number 30 Camila Giorgi. In the opener Aryna Sabalenka defeated French world number 101 Chloe Paquet, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Belarus’ world number 15 Victoria Azarenka will take on Switzerland’s world number 24 Jil Teichmann in round three. Belarus’ world number 47 Aliaksandra Sasnovich will face Germany’s world number 17 Angelique Kerber.

Belarus’ world No. 50 Ilya Ivashka lost to world number 37 Cristian Garin of Chile, 3-6, 6-7 (5-7), 6-4, 3-6, in round two.
