Belarusian BelAZ to advance cooperation, reinforce business ties with Zimbabwean companies

The Belarusian automobile manufacturer BelAZ intends to advance cooperation and reinforce business ties with companies of Zimbabwe, the company’s press service told BelTA after BelAZ participated in an expo in one of Zimbabwe’s largest cities Bulawayo.

Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Zimbabwe Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to South Africa with concurrent accreditation to Zimbabwe Aleksandr Sidoruk visited the Belarusian stand.

During the expo BelAZ representatives and the official dealer for the region Sohra Overseas FZE held negotiations with top managers of Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamond Company, which operates over 20 haul trucks with the carrying capacity of 55 tonnes and other BelAZ vehicles, and with representatives of the coal mining company Hwange Colliery. Apart from that, meetings were held with representatives of the companies that focus on underground mining. Certain agreements were reached on advancing cooperation and bolstering business ties, BelAZ’s press service told BelTA.

Zimbabwe is busy developing the mining industry. The country boasts large reserves of coal, diamonds, gold, lithium, and copper. At present BelAZ haul trucks with the carrying capacity of 55 tonnes and 130 tonnes, bulldozers, loaders, tow trucks, and dust suppression trucks are used in Zimbabwe. The country is a promising export destination for the Belarusian company.

The public joint-stock company (OAO) BelAZ is the managing company of the holding company BelAZ. BelAZ is the world's largest manufacturer of haul trucks and transport equipment for the mining industry and the civil engineering industry. BelAZ accounts for some 30% of the world market of haul trucks with an extremely large carrying capacity. The company makes the world's largest haul truck with the carrying capacity of 450 tonnes.
