Belarusians lose in doubles at Charleston, Bogota

Belarusian tennis players lost in the women’s opening doubles matches at the tournaments in the USA and Colombia, BelTA has learned.

Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus and Ons Jabeur of Tunisia lost to Jessica Pegula of the United States and Alexa Guarachi of Chile 4-6, 3-6 in the Charleston Open round of Last 16. Aryna Sabalenka will open her singles run against either world number 43 Alison Riske of the United States or world number 164 Caty McNally of the United States. Belarus’ Aliaksandra Sasnovich lost to Ukraine’s Anhelina Kalinina 4-6, 4-6 in the round of Last 64. The Ukrainian will next face Kazakhstan’s world number 18 Elena Rybakina.

At the Copa Colsanitas in Bogota Belarus’ Lidziya Marozava and Kaitlyn Christian of the United States lost to Brazilian-Venezuelan duo Carolina Alves and Andrea Gamiz 6-3, 3-6, 2-10.

The tournaments in Charleston and Bogota will be over on 10 April.
