Belarus’ pharmaceutical industry described as one of the best in post-Soviet space

The pharmaceutical industry in Belarus is one of the best in the post-Soviet space, director of the Academpharm company Yuri Mikitsky said on the air of the RTR-Belarus TV channel, BelTA has learned.

“Today Belarus has one of the best pharmaceutical industries in the post-Soviet space. In terms of safety, control and accessibility, we are among the best, if not the best," said Yuri Mikitsky.

Speaking about Academpharm, he noted that the company is the face of the National Academy of Sciences. "We have great antiviral drugs. We have also developed new ones, for which we received a lot of prizes at international exhibitions: these are drugs against blood clotting," he said.

As for biotechnology, the Academy of Sciences works on three main areas: editing the human genome, monoclonal antibodies and genetic adaptation of drugs so that they are suitable for a certain kind of genotypes.
