Belarus' export of building materials surged by 24% in January-August

Belarus' export of building materials surged by almost a quarter in January-August 2021 year-on-year, Belarusian Architecture and Construction Minister Ruslan Parkhamovich said on the air of the Belarus 1 TV channel on 24 October, BelTA has learned. "We are ahead of schedule. In January-August the export of building materials rose by 24% year-on-year. We sell not only into Russia but distant countries too," Ruslan Parkhamovich said. There are no disruptions in supplies to the domestic market, the minister noted. "Some media outlets alleged that there is a shortage of concrete, but this is not true. We carefully monitor the situation with building materials. 208 concrete filling stations have sold 16,000 tonnes of concrete since the beginning of the year. Today not a single filling station or a retail outlet has reported a shortage of this product," the minister stressed. He also touched upon the export of services. "We continue to actively implement construction projects in Russia - in Leningrad Oblast, Voronezh, Tver Oblast, in Lipetsk. We are building social facilities, residential houses, and industrial facilities. We seek to switch to industrial construction, because the margins are higher. So is value added. Leningrad Oblast is launching construction projects in sea ports. We are very interest in these projects and will pitch our services” Ruslan Parkhamovich said.
