Dushanbe to host in-person CSTO summit on 16 September

 

The Collective Security Council will meet in Dushanbe on 16 September to discuss international and regional security problems and their impact on the security of the CSTO member states. A joint meeting of the Foreign Ministers Council, the Defense Ministers Council and the Committee of Secretaries of CSTO Security Councils will take place on 15 September, CSTO spokesperson Vladimir Zainetdinov told BelTA. The Collective Security Council members are set to discuss current international and regional security issues and the main results of the Collective Security Treaty Organization's activities during the intersession period. One of the most important issues will be the situation in Afghanistan and its impact on the security of CSTO states. The Collective is expected to adopt the Declaration of the Collective Security Council, sign a number of documents related to peacekeeping activities, ensuring the activities of CSTO troops (collective forces) and equipping the CSTO Collective Rapid Reaction Force with modern weapons, military and special equipment, special means, and also consider the CSTO budget 2022, Vladimir Zainetdinov said. With the Republic of Armenia taking over the CSTO presidency in 2021-2022, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will present the country's priorities for the implementation.
