Belarus' world number 19 Victoria Azarenka has advanced into the US Open third round after seeing off World No.99 Jasmine Paolini of Italy, 6-3, 7-6 (7-1) in an hour and 45 minutes, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian will next play Spain's world number 10 Garbine Muguruza. The former world number one took down World No.60 Tereza Martincova of the Czech Republic, 6-4, 6-0, in the opener.

Belarus' world number 53 Ilya Ivashka won the US Open first round against world number 91 Tennys Sandgren of the United States, 7-6 (7-3), 6-3, 6-4. The Belarusian will next take on Canada's world number 58 Vasek Pospisil.
