Belarus' merchandise, services export up 19.5% to $10.3bn in Q1 2021

In Q1 2021, Belarus' export of goods and services rose by 19.5% year-on-year to reach $10.3 billion, BelTA learned from the website of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus (NBRB).

Over the first three months of 2021, the trade in goods and services totaled $19.794 billion, up by 17.1% over the same period of 2020. Import totaled $9.483 billion, up by 14.7%. Surplus of foreign trade in goods and services equaled $828 million. In January-March 2020, Belarus also posted a foreign trade surplus, which equaled $357.4 million.

Belarus' merchandise trade surged by 20.4% and totaled $16.259 billion. Merchandise export soared by 24.9% to $8.023 billion, and merchandise import rose by 16.3% to $8.236 billion. Trade deficit came at $213.4 million, with trade surplus in January-March 2020 at $657.4 million.

In Q1, foreign trade in services went up by 4.1% year-on-year to $3.534 billion. Export of services amounted to $2.287 billion, up by 3.8%, with import at $1.246 billion, up by 4.8%. Surplus of foreign trade in services stood at $1.041 billion (in January-March 2020 – at $1.014 billion).
