Belarus, Russia's Sakhalin Oblast sign 2021-2023 cooperation plan

Belarus and Russia's Sakhalin Oblast have signed an action plan on implementing the intergovernmental agreement on trade, economic, scientific, technical, and cultural cooperation in 2021-2023. The document was signed by Belarusian Agriculture and Food Minister Ivan Krupko and Deputy Prime Minister of the Sakhalin Oblast government Anton Zaitsev, the ministry's press service told BelTA. The document was signed as part of a videoconference session of the working group on advancing Belarus' cooperation with Sakhalin Oblast. Participants of the session discussed a broad range of matters concerning trade and economic cooperation. Prospects of increasing deliveries of food, agricultural goods, mining vehicles, passenger vehicles, road construction and maintenance machines, lifting equipment, and other kinds of products were discussed. According to the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry press service, the Belarusian side is ready for active cooperation with Sakhalin Oblast in areas and projects of mutual interest. Search for new promising directions of joint work continues. A serious potential lies in more active cooperation between the chambers of commerce and industry: the organization of online negotiations, exhibitions, seminars, and the establishment of direct ties between business circles. The Russian colleagues were invited to participate in events of the Belagro expo, which will take place in Minsk on 1-5 June. Belarus and Russia's Sakhalin Oblast are connected by long-term friendship. The sides have implemented a number of projects. Belarusian technologies were used in Sakhalin Oblast to build a dairy farm for 1,000 head of cattle and to build an agrotown with 50 single-family three-bedroom houses. An orchard was also planted, the press service added.
