Belarus is commended for its anti-crisis measures

The experts of the UNDP program appreciated the anti-crisis measures taken by Belarus, and are willing to spread this experience as part of a long-term strategy for sustainable development for the entire CIS region, Southern and Eastern Europe. In turn, Belarus will be able to use the experience gained by the organization to correct the current economic policy, noted Head of Poverty Reduction Department of UNDP Ben Slay.

"The Human Development Index rate in Belarus is the highest among the entire CIS. It even surpasses the rates of some of the newest members of the European Union. Thus, Belarus has truly earned this high praise. Belarus has done much to curb the unemployment rate and social isolation, which is very optimistic tendency. On the other hand, after the currency crisis of 2011 there aroused new difficulties. Undoubtedly, there must be undertaken additional measures, and the highest officials of Belarus are well-aware of that", said the official.
