Belarus, ILAC to ink agreement on mutual recognition of compliance assessment

Belarus and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) are going to sign a multilateral agreement on the mutual recognition of compliance assessment. The issue was on the agenda of the meeting between the State Committee for Standardization of Belarus and ILAC Chairman Peter Unger.

The head of the international organization is on a visit in Minsk. Participants of the meeting discuss further steps which are to be taken to meet the terms of signing the agreement, according to the State Standardization Committee.

With a view to boosting the export capacity of Belarusian enterprises and ensuring competitiveness of products on foreign markets, the national accreditation system has been gradually reformed since 2010. The efforts are aimed at creating terms for the signing of a relevant multilateral agreement with the ILAC. The agreement will guarantee mutual recognition of compliance assessment and certification results. This, in turn, will help lift technical barriers in trade, avoid doubling of compliance assessment in the export of goods, safe funds, raise the competitiveness of local products.
