Belarus, France discuss ECOSOC reforms

Belarus and France discussed approaches to the reformation of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). The issue was raised at the meeting of head of the main department for multilateral diplomacy of the Foreign Ministry of Belarus Yuri Ambrazevich and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to France Pavel Latushko with Deputy Head of the Directorate of the UN, International Organizations, Human Rights and Francophonie of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of France Alexis Lamek.
The participants of the meeting talked over Belarus’ priorities and initiatives in the United Nations Organization as well as the main area of work of the French diplomacy in developing cooperation with the organization.
They shared opinions on the prospects of cooperation between Belarus and France in the United Nations Organization, considered approaches of both the countries to the reformation of the UN Economic and Social Council. The representative of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry initiated the discussion of France’s possible participation in the implementation of the UN framework program on providing assistance to Belarus in 2011-2015.
