New programs in security might be launched by the Union State in 2013, State Secretary of the Belarus-Russia Union State Grigory Rapota told reporters.

A program in the defense field and a program in border protection might be started this year. The defense program is related to the regional (Belarus-Russia) group of forces and involves infrastructure development.
Cooperation in border protection will also deal with infrastructure improvement. There are plans to continue cooperation in personnel training. Similar programs are to be implemented in other law enforcement agencies.
According to Grigory Rapota, these programs were discussed at a working meeting in Minsk. The meeting was attended by government officials who act as coordinators and state customers of the Union State programs and projects in security, defense industry and military sector. A similar meeting will be held in Moscow on 20 February.
