Denisov named best defenseman in Vojens

      Dinamo Minsk Vladimir Denisov was named the best defenseman of the Olympic qualification tournament in Group F that finished in Vojens, Denmark.
The 28-year-old defenseman of the Belarusian national ice hockey team finished the tournament with 3 (0+3) points in three games, six penalty minutes and +4 rating. His performance earned his the best defenseman honors in the Vojens Olympic qualifiers. Danish Frederik Andersen was named the best goaltender of the tournament, allowing two goals and going with 96 save percentage.
David Rodman of the Slovenian national team was named the best forward of the tournament, posting 6 (4+2) points in three games. Among the best strikers was also Andrei Stepanov (Belarus) – 5 (3+2) points.
      As for the Olympic qualification tournament, Slovenia earned a spot for the 2014 Sochi Games. Belarus, losing to Slovenia (2-4) and taking two wins over Ukraine (6-0) and Denmark (3-2), finished second in its group.
      Austria and Latvia won their final Olympic qualification groups to grab tickets to the 2014 Sochi Olympic Games. They, alongside with Slovenia, will join the nine best national ice hockey teams that automatically qualified for the final tournament. According to the IIHF ranking, these teams are Russia, Finland, the Czech Republic, Sweden, Canada, Slovakia, the U.S., Norway and Switzerland.
