The draft law on Belarus’ accession to the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities will be submitted to the Council of Ministers for consideration in the near future, Belarusian Deputy Labor and Social Protection Minister Alexander Rumak told media. “I would like to assure you that Belarus is moving towards the ratification of the UNCRPD,” Alexander Rumak noted.
Alexander Rumak also pointed out that Belarus is developing a draft state program for social integration of people with disabilities and elderly people in 2016-2020. For example, the program envisages a number of activities to further develop the system of social care and make it easier for people with disabilities to access different kinds of services. “This includes the ability to participate in sports and cultural events and to have better access to information (more broadcasts with subtitles),” Alexander Rumak explained.
