Belarus’ Customs takes exhaustive measures to prevent sanctioned goods from moving to Russia


       In view of smooth interaction between the customs agencies of Belarus and Russia the Belarusian customs service has taken exhaustive measures to prevent the import of sanctioned products to Russia via Belarus, BelTA quotes Andrei Kovalchuk, Head of the Customs Control Organization Office of the State Customs Committee of Belarus. According to the official, so far this year over 6,000 batches of goods have crossed the customs border of the Customs Union via Belarus after close examination. One hundred batches of goods have been returned due to the sanctions. Over 500 batches of goods were sent to Russia with customs escort for the sake of consequent control.
Special measures resulted in the detection of 88 violations, with over 700 tonnes of merchandise on the sanctioned list seized.
