Melitina Staniouta of Belarus showed third best result in the Balls event at the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships in Izmir, Turkey, BelTA has learned.
The leader of the Belarusian national team scored 18,000 points going behind Russian gymnasts Yana Kudryavtseva and Margarita Mamun who both earned 18,433 points to share the champion title. Yekaterina Galkina of Belarus showed sixth best result with a total of 17,450 points.
Yana Kudryavtseva and Margarita Mamun also claimed medals in the Hoop routine. Yana Kudryavtseva took gold scoring 18,816 points, Margarita Mamun collected silver (18,450). Bronze went to Korea’s Son Yeon-jae (17,966). Belarusian gymnasts did not make it to the final in this discipline.
The 33rd Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships will complete on Sunday, 28 September.
