Belarus athlete successful at Wimbledon qualifiers

The grass courts of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club opened for the Wimbledon qualifying matches.

In the men’s singles opener World No.210 Vladimir Ignatik of Belarus upset Joao Souza of Brazil (134) in two straight sets 6-2, 6-2.

Vladimir Ignatik will next face Spain’s Adrian Menendez-Maceiras (172). Three qualifying rounds are needed to reach main-draw places.  

The main-draw matches will start on 23 June.
