Russia, Belarus lead in attendance at IIHF World Championship


       The teams of Russia and Belarus are leading in live attendance figures following the five days of the 78th IIHF World Championship in Minsk, BelTA has learned.
Three wins of the Russian team at Minsk Arena drew 41,358 fans. The games of the hosting nation were attended by 40,541 people. An estimated 218,118 fans came to watch 24 games at Minsk Arena and Chizhovka Arena.
      The Czech Republic leads in PIM (57), with forward Jan Kovar being the most penalized player earning a total of 27 penalty minutes in a game against Canada.
Germany goes as the most obedient team with 16 penalty minutes in three games. Belarus holds the 7th spot with 34 penalty minutes in the list of 16 teams.
Latvia is the PP leader with four PP goals in 11 attempts. Here Belarus is ranked 8th, with 2 goals in 10 attempts.
      Penalty Killing leader is Italy which did not concede a goal in 12 times they played shorthanded. Belarus played 14 times shorthanded and conceded 4 goals. But they also managed to score twice while being at disadvantage.
In terms of scoring efficiency the leader is Team Russia with 15 goals in three matches (five per game).
Forward of Team USA Tommy Wingels is the face-off leader winning 6 out of 9 face-offs.
