Belarus MPs to ratify Russia’s cooperation agreement on GLONASS use

      Belarusian MPs plan to ratify an agreement on cooperation with Russia on the use of the Russian global satellite navigation system GLONASS. The draft law on the ratification of the agreement between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Russian Federation on cooperation in the use and development of the Russian global satellite navigation system GLONASS has been submitted to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly and posted on the Belarusian government website, BelTA has learned.
        The intergovernmental agreement was signed by the two countries at the meeting of the Union State Council of Ministers on 13 December 2013. The agreement is aimed at the development of the proper organizational and legal framework for mutually beneficial cooperation in certain areas connected with the use and development of the GLONASS system and the relevant satellite navigation technologies.
The document envisages the regulation of cooperation in the development of the Belarusian ground infrastructure of the GLONASS system. The agreement also provides for mutual scientific and technical information sharing, experimental data, results of development projects, materials, equipment and software.
