Polotsk wins Grand Prix of Moscow International Quilt Festival


      The art project Grani of the folk club Roshva from Polotsk was awarded the Grand Prix of Quilt Fest, the second edition of the Moscow International Quilt Festival, BelTA learned from Nina Yarmoukh, the head of the club.
       The idea of the project is based on Slavic mythology which mentions Chur, the God of the hearth, protector of land properties. It took almost half a year for the club members to make the quilt. At the Moscow festival the Polotsk club presented the unique work consisting of seven parts. The composition is centered around the wooden Chur, at the beginning and the end there are the towels that accompany the person through high life and symbolize the beginning and the end of life. Other parts featured Belarusian traditional ornaments.
