Dinamo Minsk held their composure to tie the score in the KHL Nadezhda Cup semifinal series against Severstal Cherepovets with a 3-2 overtime win. The Belarusians lost the first meeting in Cherepovets 2-5. The opening period of the second meeting went goalless. The hosts opened the score early in the second on a sharp shot by Linus Videll.
The goal, however, did not caught the Bisons flatfooted as they fast on response by Alexander Materukhin’s two-men advantage equalizer midway through the middle stanza and took the lead thanks to the efforts of Sergei Drozd and his assistants Lukas Krajicek and Alexander Pavlovich. The Cherepovets team were not going to make it easy for Dinamo Minsk tying it up in the middle of the final period. The game was stopped on the eighth minute of the overtime by Sergei Drozd who netted his second of the match to bring his team a win.
The teams will now hold two matches at Minsk Arena on 26 and 27 March. The team that first wins three meetings will progress into the final.
