Minsk National Airport overhaul ahead of 2014 IIHF World Championship

A considerable amount of work to renovate the arrival lounge of Minsk National Airport has been carried out in a very short period of time, 

Director of the Aviation Department of the Transport and Communications Ministry of Belarus Vladimir Kostin told reporters. “We were tasked with preparing the airport for the 2014 IIHF World Championship so that arriving passengers could see a modern airport which meets all modern standards,” the head of the department said. He noted that one of the goals of the renovation project was to enlarge the air terminal. The main part of the first stage of the renovation has concluded. Vladimir Kostin said that some finishing touches should be put but underlined that work will be finished prior to the world championship. He said that such a task was set by the government and the implementation of this project is overseen by state bodies. “Work is underway here 24/7. We do this in order to prepare the airport for the world championship in the best way,” Vladimir Kostin noted.
