Economy Ministry: Belarus needs a soft investment climate in the SES


       On the competitive market in the Single Economic Space Belarus needs to create a soft climate for foreign investors, head of the main investment department of the Economy Ministry of Belarus Sergei Vaitekhovsky said at a roundtable held in the Council of the Republic to discuss additional measures to regulate the investment activity in Belarus. Sergei Vaitekhovsky added: “Each country in the SES presents itself as a gateway to the 170-million-strong market, offers preferences, including in taxes, take aggressive steps to improve its positions in the international rankings on the ease of doing business index.
Besides, all the partners in the Customs Union need modernization of their economies and advanced technologies.” In his words, the efficiency of economic reforms in Belarus has been repeatedly noticed in the reports of international organizations. Thus, Belarus ranked 63rd among 189 countries in the report compiled by the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation, Doing Business 2014: Understanding Regulations for Small and Medium-Size Enterprises. Kazakhstan went 50th in the rating while Russia was 92nd.
