Around 150 dance couples from Minsk and other Belarusian cities participated in the sixth Minsk Orthodox Youth Ball that took place in the Belarusian capital.
Minsk hosted over 200 guests, including from Russia and Ukraine. This year's edition of the event was titled as Joy of Dance.
The Otava Yo folk band from St. Petersburg was a special guest of the ball. The band performs new unexpected versions of famous songs. The Belarusian people’s folk group Verbitsa also partook in the event.
“The ball is not a contest of any kind. It is a platform where young orthodox people can get acquainted with each other and communicate,” the organizers of the ball emphasized. Today not only Orthodox young people get interested in the event. “The ball gathers people who seem to be completely different, brings them together and gives a great common goal”, the organizing committee said. The rehearsals for the ball started in October 2013. The couples were learning to dance tango, valeta, etc. The program of the sixth edition of the ball was special due to its merry folk nature. As always, it featured dances of all kinds: from classic waltz to extraordinary retro. The ball was divided into three sections.
The program of the event also included a music salon, games, a photo salon, a room for small children, etc.
